Mythology: Aquarius is represented in the heavens as the cup bearer or the water bearer. This figure is Ganymedes, the son of Tros whom the city of Troy was named for. Zeus took a liking to Ganymedes and made him the cup bearer for the gods, which was until then the responsibility of Hebe, daughter of Hera. Hera was angry at this snub to her daughter and her anger annoyed Zeus who elevated Ganymedes further by placing him in the heavens as Aquarius.

Positive traits: Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac and is an air sign. This gives it liveliness of mind and fluency of expression. It is of fixed modality which brings focus and determination. Aquarians are friendly, honest and loyal. They are fiercely independent and of an intellectual nature.

Negative traits: Aquarians can be very unemotional, detached from emotions. They blow hot and cold and are unpredictable and often contrary.

General: Aquarians are usually intelligent, logical and clear minded. They have strong personalities and people are easily attracted to their friendly and caring personalities. There are two types of Aquarians, one is shy and sensitive, possessing great patience. The other is somewhat of an exhibitionist with a lively outgoing nature. Electronics and photography hold great interest for Aquarians, in fact anything of a technical nature they can excel at. As teachers and in welfare they are happy. Entertainment and music provide good areas for the Aquarian talents and the more sensitive and psychic Aquarian may go into healing.
